Microsoft has released Windows 10 and you may have received a free upgrade notification if you are using a Windows 7, 8 or 8.1 system.  

Initially this announcement stated that upgrade was not recommended.  

This may still be the case in some instances.

Here is an update to the Windows 10 information related to Zyteq equipment and software.

Here is the statement from Smartbox which relates to Grid Pads and some other devices which may be running the Grid 3.

Windows 10 and your device from Smartbox

The new Windows 10 operating system is supported by most of Smartbox communication aids.

Grid 3, Look to Learn and The Grid 2 support Windows 10.

Current range (2016)

Models that come with Windows 10:

  • Grid Pad Go (2nd Gen), Grid Pad Pro 11 (2nd Gen), Grid Pad Pro 18 (2nd Gen), Grid Pad Eye 11 (2nd Gen), Grid Pad Eye 18 (2nd Gen), Grid Pad Pro 13, Grid Pad Eye 13
  • I-series+

Models that do not support Windows 10:

  • Grid Pad Rugged
  • Legacy devices

Models that can be upgraded to Windows 10 (Please note the free update period ends June 2016):

  • Grid Pad Go 8, Grid Pad Go 11, Grid Pad Pro 11, Grid Pad Pro 18, Grid Pad Eye 11, Grid Pad Pro 18
  • ISeries + (see http://www.tobiidynavox.com/iseriesplus/win10 for upgrade information)

Models that do not support Windows 10:

  • SB10  (we didn't have this model in Australia)
  • Tobii CSeries, ISeries Classic

If you are updating your device to Windows 10, ensure that all of your camera software is up to date with the latest drivers.

Zyteq NOTE about PowerBox MOTION

Motion CL910 (Win 7) Can NOT be upgraded to Windows 10.

Motion CL920 (Win 8) Can be upgraded to Windows 10.

Jabbla Devices and Windows 10

Tellus 5 is now supplied with Windows 10

Mobi 2 should remain at Windows 7 and will be supplied this way at this time.  Please do not try to upgrade Mobi 2 to Windows 10.

Tellus 4 was supplied as Windows 7.  Please do not attempt to upgrade to Windows 10. Superceded by Tellus 5. 

Microsoft Announcement

For the general public, the free upgrade offer for Windows 10 ends on July 29 2016. However, if you use assistive technologies, you can still get the free upgrade offer even after the general public deadline expires as Microsoft continues our efforts to improve the Windows 10 experience for people who use these technologies.

With the Windows 10 Anniversary Update, we’ve taken a number of steps to improve the accessibility of Windows 10. To learn more, read our blog that details some of these improvements.

Before you upgrade, please check with your assistive technology provider(s) to learn more about their software compatibility with Windows 10.
