Update of SL40 - Australian spec
There have been significant developments towards the Australian SL40 LightWRITER being available.
This is the model with the SMS capability, in addition to all the standard communication features and functions.
We have been waiting for Toby Churchill Ltd to finalise engineering changes required to meet the Australian A-tick certification.
This has taken longer than expected but significant progress has been made recently.
Toby Churchill Ltd has promised to exchange all the SL40 LightWRITERs in Australia to the SMS model when it becomes available.
ZYTEQ will make the recall and organise this exchange. All SL40 LightWRITER users will be notified either directly, or via the funding agency which owns the device, or through Speech Pathologist or Occupational Therapists.
Please be aware that there are two models which are currently UNavailable in Australia, and which will become available once this process is completed:
1. We are waiting for the SMS model (with mobile phone module for SMS messaging ONLY / no USB port) which will be the exchange model for people with SL40s Australian spec.
2. The SL40 CONNECT – (with mobile phone module for SMS and voice calls and with USB port) is a separate model and will be an additional cost.
We will need to wait until closer to the exchange to determine whether any other options may also be offered. Some people will want the straight swap to the SMS model. Some people may not want to swap/upgrade. Some people may wish to pay extra to upgrade to the CONNECT. We will provide a clear outline of the options once they confirmed.
