The Bespoke tablet PC features a bright 8.4 inch touch screen, which can be activated directly by finger or stylus. The backpack (pictured below) provides very good quality amplification, switch jacks and GEWA environmental control module. The slim-line design and magnesium-aluminium alloy casing provide a light-weight computer with silent, fan-less operation and no moving parts as the storage is solid state, (read about the advantages of solid state storage over hard drive). The inclusion of an external battery charger and additional battery means that operational time can be readily extended with hot-swappable batteries. All peripherals are included for programming and set-up by a support person.

The Grid 2 and Mind Express

The Grid 2 and Mind Express are software designed for dynamic display communication. They are both powerful, flexible programs with a wealth of features. Communication can be achieved by:

• spelling messages. Text is converted to speech. Messages can be formulated by selecting individual characters. Spelling is usually combined with the available speed enhancement techniques such as using word prediction, word banks or phrase banks.
• symbol or picture representation: Whole phrases, sentences or stories can be stored in one cell which is represented by a symbol (e.g. Picture Communication Symbols PCS; supplied with the programs) or photograph or other image.
• combination of spelling and symbols. People developing or rehabilitating spelling skills can combine the above methods of message formulation.

Bespoke : handheld

The hand-held Bespoke has rubber bumpers to provide extra durability. An elastic strap across the rear of the unit provides a hand strap. Alternatively a protective flap can be fitted between the rubber bumpers, and a shoulder strap attached.

Bespoke : with carry bag / easel

The carry bag provides portability, safety and functionality. The device can be used one-handed while standing or mobile. The bag can be closed to be carried like a regular shoulder bag. The flap can be opened and secured by a strap to make a table-top easel. A secured string is in-built for easy access to the stylus. There are access ports in the bag for the charger and holes for the amplifier so that sound output is loud and clear.

Bespoke : with mount plate or desk mounted

The mount plate is compatible with the Daessy quick release system. The battery is accessible without removing the mount plate, if battery swap is required. The desk mount is shown and is available as part of the system from ZYTEQ. If other Daessy mounting systems are required, the mount plate can be ordered through ZYTEQ and the Daessy mount can be ordered through Technability, the Daessy representative for Australia. The Daessy mounting system is a modular system available in many configurations to fit almost any individual requirement.

 

Bespoke : friction mounted

The friction mount attaches to the backpack of the Bespoke with a quick release mounting plate assembly.. It is a flexible and heavy duty professional camera mount. In this set-up the backpack is mounted on a rear metal bracket. The speaker faces forward and the sound emits from the space between the backpack and the tablet, forward and upwards. The battery is less accessible for hot-swapping. The friction mount is best suited to positioning on square tubing, such as from a wheelchair or bed frame or other furniture. It can be almost infinitely positioned but care should be exercised when loosening off the mount. The tablet should be supported. NOTE: external battery and charger not supplied with this option.

Why a solid state drive?

A solid-state drive (SSD) is a data storage device that uses solid-state memory to store data. An SSD emulates a hard disk drive interface, thus readily replacing it in most applications. With no moving parts, solid-state drives are less fragile than hard disks and are also silent (unless a cooling fan is used); as there are no mechanical delays, they usually employ low access time and latency. Please note: no fan is used in the Bespoke.
