DISCONTINUED: The ZYGO-USA head-worn pointers represent a significant design advancement in providing efficient pointing, from the chin. Unlike forehead protrusion pointers, using an "out from the chin" device more realistically places the pointer in proximity to the item(s) being accessed. It also eliminates the barrier imposed by forehead pointers because it doesn't interrupt either the wearer's field of vision or the full view of the wearer's face. These AD Head Pointers have also just been upgraded to include a brand new tip so they can be used with iPad,iPhone, and iPod Touch, as well as other capacitive touch screen tablets including Android and all other AAC dynamic display devices. Not suitable for heavy-use. Unlikely to suit long-term head-pointer user who is accustomed to the "unicorn" style of head-pointer.

The demand for our head-pointer has always been low, and has dropped off significantly over the past few years. There was a resurgence when the iPad come out and the head-pointer tip was updated to be compatible with the capacitive display.
The ZYGO head-pointer has been around for decades. It has always been the same design - a light-weight construction only suited to a small number of potential head-pointer users. Many head-pointer users need a device that can withstand "heavy" use. These tend to be the custom-made unicorn style with a helmet for very secure fitting. As the ZYGO head-pointer is one of the few commercial head-pointers available you have probably found yourself here to investigate head-pointers. The conversation usually goes along these lines: "Who is needing a head-pointer?", "Do you have an Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist involved in the selection?", "What type of movements does the person have?" What will they be operating?" Generally we find that there are good reasons not to use a head-pointer (or this light-weight head-pointer) and there are other more high tech options available such as head-tracking devices e.g. QUHA Zono gyroscopic mouse; Smart Nav; Tracker Pro, or Eye Gaze options for people who cannot manage the head-control required for the head-tracking devices e.g. IntelliGaze or MyGaze, or voice control if the user has consistent speech. In terms of functionality and "What is to be operated" - these higher tech devices permit sophisticated mouse control enabling full computer access. This means that the user can replace the standard keyboard/mouse or touch screen and use a computer or tablet in any way they wish. If a communicaiton device is needed also, then a complete system is available to provide the communication function as well as the computer control. The Head-pointer has a tip which is compatible with iPad, iPhone and other idevices. The pointer is a light weight aluminum that protrudes from a chin yolk. It is fully adjustable at the head band, temple assembly, chin strap and pointer angle and length. For comfort the head band is padded and the chin cup is made from a flexible plastic. The yolk mounted pointer doesn't interrupt the wearer's field of vision. This is a lightweight headpointer, unsuitable for heavy use. All parts are replaceable.
AD-1 standard headpointer - no longer available - is fully adjustable; capable of being individually fitted to head sizes from 20-25 inches in circumference Measuring 25 cm (10 inches) from temple to yolk, and pointer length is 25 cm (10 inches). This model suits head circumference 507 to 634 mm (20 to 25 inches). This model has a knob rear closure.

If the thread has been damaged then ball alone cannot be replaced. It is necessary to purchase the entire yolk assembly. The stock of this replacement part is no longer available.
