Look Lab

Look Lab is a software package designed for anyone who uses eye gaze technology. The software features a comprehensive collection of 38 accessible games and creative activities that will help people get started and challenge their skills as they progress.

With over 38 specially created activities, Look Lab is a motivating and fun way to get started with eye gaze technology. Every activity has been developed in consultation with teachers and therapists to improve access and choice making skills with eye tracking.

Experiment using eye tracking technology to interact with the screen in different ways, including hitting targets, dwelling, tracking objects around the screen and moving the cursor horizontally and vertically.

 

Eye Gaze Skills: 38 fun activities - Immerse yourself in a range of fun games and puzzles, get creative with art and music activities and unwind with a selection of mindfulness exercises. Build 12 different skills- Created in consultation with specialist inclusive education teachers and professionals, Look Lab has been designed to help you learn a selection of different eye gaze skills.  Easy and standard mode: Each activity can be adjusted to suit you. Easy mode allows you to explore the activity at your own pace, without having to worry about losing lives or running out of time.Choose from 5 activity categories: Fun: relaxing games that are easy to learn and get started with. Challenge: more complex and strategic games that involve time dependent reactions. Puzzle: activities with a problem-solving element. Creative: activities focused on music or art.  Mindfulness: simple cause and effect activities that support relaxation and screen engagement

Tools to track your progress: Heat maps show areas of the screen that have been accessed. Save copies of your heat maps to record evidence of achievements and to track progress over time. (1) Different modes: Each activity can be adjusted to suit you. Easy mode allows you to explore the activity at your own pace, without having to worry about failing by losing lives or running out of time. Standard mode has a more competitive edge, where lives or time may be limited and where difficulty increases. (2) Appearance options: For anyone with a visual impairment, or who requires a simplified visual experience with fewer distractions, Look Lab can be displayed in minimal mode which increases contrast and removes distractions such as graphic backgrounds and score. (3) Access options: Guided: a communication partner guides you through the activity selection process.  Choice Making: the same as Guided mode, but users can also dwell to select and exit activities.  Independent: complete access with no restrictions

Practise your eye gaze skills

Developed in consultation with specilaist inclusive education teachers and professionals, Look Lab activities effectively nurture 12 different eye gaze skills. Each activity encourages users to engage with the screen in different ways, including hitting targets, dwelling, tracking objects and moving the cursor around the screen.

There are also customisable options for each activity. Easy mode allows users to explore activities at their own pace, free from the fear of losing or running out of time. Standard mode introduces a competitive edge, where activities increase in difficulty and include time constraints and limit attempts to win.

     

Who is Look Lab for?

Look Lab introduces eye gaze in a positive and motivating way for AAC users of any age, including teenagers and adults seeking more mature games and creative activities. It is ideal for people who fall into the following categories:

  • Looking to practice their eye gaze accuracy and precision skills to help with using more complex programs

The software gives AAC users the autonomy to select activities and modify settings independently, and seamlessly access Grid communication software to have a chat or recalibrate their eye tracker.
