How Do I Purchase?

Please read the License Agreement first. You will find a copy of this below.

There are three main ways to purchase the PODD templates for printed PODD communication Books based on your requirements:

1. Printing PODD Books is my only requirement

The DocLock version will suit you if you are primarily purchasing to print PODD books using the Mind Express 5 Direct Access templates.  Included is Mind Express DocLock version, Picture Communication Symbols (PCS) and the printable templates.  You will not have access to Mind Express page sets for communication.

2. I own a Mind Express 5 license and want to add capability to print PODD books

If you have Mind Express 5 on your device you will have the perpetual AAC license for Speech Generating Devices.

To print PODD books you will need a license for Picture Communication Symbols (PCS) and also a license for PODD books Direct Access templates.  You may already have a PCS license on your device. 

3. I want to use Mind Express for Communication as well as to print PODD books

You will need to purchase licenses for:

• Mind Express 5, 
• Picture Communication Symbols (PCS) and
• PODD books Direct Access templates.
• If you want to use PODD for AAC you'll need the additional license, and for any other additional page sets such as Gateway or Score.

There are some additional options for those who have a subscription license for Mind Express 5. 

If you want to print PODD books option #2 above applies, however there is no subscription version of the PODD books Direct Access templates

4. We need to print PODD books from multiple computers

Multi-user licensing is available with the annual subscription option. 

• Mind Express 5 is purchased as an annual subscription, and then the perpetual PODD print template licenses is needed. 
• 5 user, 10 user and 25 user licenses are available - with the full Mind Express.
• Then purchase the multi-user PODD print template licenses - which are perpetual, and not annual subscription.
• So you will need to renew Mind Express 5 each year, but not the PODD print template license

5. We print PODD books and charge clients for them. Do we need a special license?

If the payment for printed books is based on:

1. cost recovery, AND
2. books are printed for clients you provide services to

then no special licensing arrangement is needed.  Both conditions need to be met.

If books are sold for profit, OR sold to people who are not clients of your organisation (peope you are providing services to), then a special licensing arrangement needs to be made directly with Gayle Porter.

- Copyright information. This PODD Communication books resources product is owned by the author, Gayle Porter.

- License Agreement

Grant of License. This License Agreement ("License") permits you to use one copy of the accompanying Pragmatic Organisation Dynamic Display Direct Access Template software ("SOFTWARE") on any single computer, provided the SOFTWARE is in use on only one computer at any time.

-Permissions. You may use the PODD communication book templates to produce resources for yourself and family or the CLIENT GROUP OF THE OWNER OF RESOURCE. The CLIENT GROUP OF THE OWNER OF THE RESOURCE refers to the students, patients or clients who attend the centre, school or hospital, or are on the regular caseload of a therapist or teacher who has purchased the RESOURCE.

- Restrictions. Copying the RESOURCE for use across an entire organisation, school or hospital system or contracting to outside agencies or clients to produce communication books using this RESOURCE is not allowed under this license agreement. Organisations wanting to use the RESOURCE to produce communication books for clients from multiple agencies or receive payment for the production of the communication books should contact Gayle Porter ([email protected]) to negotiate an alternative licensing agreement.

- Requests for Translation. People wishing to translate any of the materials from this RESOURCE should contact Gayle Porter ([email protected]) to negotiate a translation and distribution agreement.

If the payment for printed books is based on:

1. cost recovery, AND
2. books are printed for clients you provide services to

then no special licensing arrangement is needed.  Both conditions need to be met.
