• Designed alongside ACC users over 3 years, for AAC users. 
• Talk Pad is supplied with Grid software installed.
• Any iOS AAC communication software can be installed.  Please enquire if you wish to have your Talk Pad supplied with other AAC apps. Keyguards can also be made for other apps.
• Grid software gives you instant access to a wide range of grid sets.
• Carry it on the move using the tactile grab-handle, or attach the neck strap or Mount it to a stand or wheelchair, (via mount plate option) or position using the rubberised, adjustable stand.
• Get your message across loud and clear, via the loud in-buiilt speakers. 
• Access the touchscreen directly, and add a keyguard if you prefer, or plug in switches for switch access, or use Bluetooth connection for any wireless accessories.
• Large bright blue buttons so volume and power buttons stand out.
• Tones to confirm charger and switch connection, and LED indicators to confirm switch activation.
• Drop tested to 1 metre. IP Rating 22 (when positioned in a typical upright or angled position)
• Three colours: charcoal, pistachio and coral.

Warranty and AT Standards

There is no relevant Australian AT Standards (or ISO AT standards) applicable to this assistive technology product.

A 2 year warranty against manufacturing defaults. This does not include usual wear and tear, perishable and external accessories and batteries, damage to touchscreen/displays and accidental/neglect damage.

What is Talk Pad 2nd gen and who is it for?
Talk Pad is a new lightweight communication aid created by Smartbox. It is designed for anyone who needs a durable and portable communication aid.
Available in two sizes, 8-inch or 10-inch, Talk Pad has multiple positioning options and can be accessed with touch, using a new and improved keyguard or up to two switches.

Why is it called Talk Pad 2nd gen?

The original Talk Pad was the 1st generation - and this was not available in Australia, so we have jumped straight to the 2nd Gen. 

What software does Talk Pad use?

Talk Pad comes with our Grid communication app, however the device can be used with any iOS-based communication software.
Please ring to enquire about supply of other iOS AAC Apps.  Please note only Grid is supplied for a Talk Pad trial.

Can I purchase another iOS AAC App with my Talk Pad order?

Does Talk Pad support eye gaze? 

Talk Pad is not available with eye gaze.

How do I charge Talk Pad?
Talk Pad comes with a custom power adaptor that splits into two charging cables: one for your speaker and one for your Talk Pad.

Why is there a new app for Talk Pad? 
The Smartbox Link app is available for free on the app store and is used to update the Talk Pad firmware. We recommend installing the app so it’s ready for when your firmware needs updating.  

Can I use switches?
Talk Pad can be used with switches. We have added two switch ports to allow for use with wired switches, and each switch port has an LED indicator to show when a switch is activated.  Support for switches is currently available via the iOS accessibility options.

Can I mount both sizes?
Yes, both the 8-inch and 10-inch size devices can be mounted onto a stand or wheelchair.

What’s new about the keyguard?
The Talk Pad keyguard now features a keyguard frame that fits neatly over your Talk Pad screen, providing a user-friendly installation process with no tools required.
