Access Consultation

HOW ZYTEQ CAN HELP

Zyteq offers a range of services to help with evaluation for AAC devices.

In relation to access methods the following options may provide a pathway to find the right solution for you:

• Book a Review Call and we can discuss our Access Consultation.  Our access consultations are between our AT Consultan - Occupational Therapists and the AT user's primary Occupational Therapist. We can discuss how this works in the Review Call. 
• Purchase your preferred access device online from www.zyteq.com.au on “purchase or return” terms, so you can set up, install and trial the device independently.
• Ask your primary clincian to book a Review Call. 

Working out the most suitable access method or methods generally involves further evaluation, ideally with an Occupational Therapist who has experience with AAC devices.

Our AT Consultant - Occupational Therapist:

• Cannot provide access assessments. 
• We are unable to provide formal recommendations or prescriptions.
• Cannot act as a primary clinician or replace a client’s primary Occupational Therapist (OT).
• Cannot complete or submit Assistive Technology (AT) assessments for funding purposes

• Can provide suggestions, guidance, and detailed product information to support the decision-making process

As a commercial organisation aligned with a specific range of products, our AT Consultants are unable to act in place of a primary clinician.
We are here to support clients and their clinical teams with information and options — not to replace clinical decision-making.

There are several paths towards having an evaluation with an occupational therapist to find the most suitable access method/s and these will be outlined here:

I AM WORKING WITH AN OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST

If you are currently working with an Occupational Therapist (OT) we would recommend discussing your need for an access consultation to determine whether you could engage them for this service. The benefit of working with an Occupational Therapist for your evaluation is that a professional's advice should result in a more positive outcome. An evaluation that is supported by an OT means that the Zyteq hire and trial programs can be accessed through our three-way agreement between yourself, Zyteq and the OT.

I HAVE A GOOD IDEA ABOUT WHAT WOULD WORK FOR ME OR WHAT I WANT TO TRY

If you know which device will work best, the fastest path forward without OT support is to purchase the access device on “purchase or return” terms.  Only a limited number of products are available via this option.  The terms of "purchase or return" can be found at this link.

I AM WORKING WITH AN OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST BUT NOT IN RELATION TO COMPUTER ACCESS

If your OT is unable to assist with an access evaluation it may be worthwhile discussing whether additional support from Zyteq could make this possible.  Zyteq can offer you and your OT a consultation with our occupational therapist.  This could be via a videocall, face to face consulatation, and hire of equipment to trial.  Quotes can be provided for the services listed here. BOOK AN EVALUATION WITH AN ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY SERVICE

There are assistive technology services in most states who provide assessment services, and in some cases regional visits.
