Beautifully engineered   

We all know how important it is that AAC devices are reliable and built to last, so Smartbox has designed the Grid Pad 10 S from the ground up with this in mind, and used the highest quality components throughout. 

• An impact resistant magnesium-alloy chassis makes the case incredibly strong, protecting it from everyday knocks and bumps. 
• The chassis also provides significant thermal conductivity - removing heat from the processor without the need for any fans or openings, making the device water and dust resistant (IP54 rated). 
• Grid Pad 10s has also been drop tested to 1 metre. 

• The 10-inch antiglare screen is made with toughened industrial grade glass, which has been optically bonded to the display panel, protecting it against impacts and scratches. 
• Extra strong ports have been used throughout to avoid damage, and rubber bungs add extra protection. 
• The internal components have been carefully secured in place so there is no movement inside the device, this makes it shock-proof and ensures the best quality audio.  
• High gain antenna give you reliable Wireless and Bluetooth, so you always have a stable internet connection and excellent Bluetooth capability – perfect for using wireless devices. 

Second Screen:

The second screen adds a whole new way to communicate by showing your message on the front of your device.
When you’re creating your message in Grid the text that you can see in your chat window also appears on your second screen.

Use the second screen to:

• help in noisy environments in addition to using your Grid voice, to get your message across clearly to the person you’re communicating with.  
•  display symbols in full colour which is ideal for communicating with someone who uses symbols to support their understanding of language.

• Symoji is a fun new feature in Grid enabling you to quickly communicate using an animated character.
• Symoji allows you to quickly add meaning or emotion to something you’ve said already or communicate a whole idea or feeling by itself.

The second display is angled for easy viewing when the device is sitting on a table or flat surface, as shown in the picture here. 

Versatile Positioning

Flat :The ergonomic wedge shape of the case helps users access their device when it’s lying flat.

Adjustable stand: The in-built adjustable flip-out stand allows you to position Grid Pad 10s at any angle on a desk.

Mounting: Mount your device to your wheelchair with the included dual mounting plate - which fits with both Daessy and Rehadapt mounts.

Multi-Access Device

Grid Pad 10s is a multi-access device, so there are lots of ways to interact with it.

• There is a touchscreen

Remote Button with Switch Ports

Your Grid Pad has a Remote Power Button included.

• The Remote Power Button allows you to turn your Grid Pad on and off.
• It can also be used as a remote switch box so the switches are not wired to the device but to the remote power button.
• The Remote Power Button comes paired with your Grid Pad out of the box.
• Switch port 1 also functions as a power button.

Built-in infrared Environment Control 

GEWA infrared Environment Control allows you to operate devices around your home, like your TV and other remote controlled gadgets. The front facing IR learning window provides ease of programming, and the multi-directional infrared LEDs give you a powerful 10m range signal.

Who is Grid Pad 10s for?

Grid Pad 10s is for users who want a portable and rugged communication aid that has lots of options for positioning. It’s primarily designed for touch and switch users, with options for USB access devices like joysticks and alternative mice. Smyle Mouse is also a good access option.

Does it work with eye gaze?

Grid Pad 10s is not designed for eye gaze. The screen is too small to be accurate for most people and the battery will only support 3-4 hours use with eye gaze. We recommend either Grid Pad 12 or Grid Pad 15 for eye gaze users.

What makes it unique?

What’s new about the Remote Power Button?

The new Remote Power Button has all the features of the original, with the added option to use it as a wireless switch transmitter. This means that you can wirelessly control your device from a distance.

What is the tough case?

The tough case provides additional impact and shock protection for your Grid Pad. An ergonomic handle offers an easy way to carry your Grid Pad without obscuring the second screen.

How much does it weigh?

Grid Pad 10s weighs 1.45 kg. 

Does Grid Pad 10s have Environment Control?

Grid Pad 10s has integrated GEWA Environment Control so you can program infrared devices around your home. However to keep the device as small and light as possible there is no integrated Radio Environment Control. You can use a USB Z-wave stick in either of the USB ports. They are neatly hidden and protected at the back of the device.

What does ‘IP54 rated’ mean?

IP Rating or Ingress Protection Rating, is an internationally recognised standard that lets people know the capabilities of a product’s casing. Grid Pad 10s has an IP54 rating, which means it’s protected against dust ingress and water splashes, but is not dust tight or water proof.
